 Virgil
Lloyd Redwine, age 87, of Mountain Pine, died Thursday, January 10, 2019.
He was born on September 21, 1931, in Mountain Pine, the
son of Johnny Walter Redwine and Govie Agnes Daniels Redwine. On January
3, 1953, he married Jessie Murders. He was preceded in death by both
parents and five sisters, Latha Marie, Fannie May Redwine, Winnie Redwine
Smith, Jennie Redwine Caldwell, and Dorsie Lee Redwine Smith.
Virgil left behind an incredible legacy of labor,
laughter, and love. An institution in Mountain Pine, he accomplished so
much living his entire life within a mile of where he was born. His
beautiful garden, an envy of many, thrived under his care every year.
Whether in the garden, selling Jackson Cookies, driving a truck, cutting
firewood, or serving with his beloved Masonic brothers, he was a hard
worker. He recognized his contribution to his community and wanted to
preserve it, leading him to donate countless antiquities to the Mountain
Pine Museum. Virgil had the unique ability to make everyone feel loved and
special.
He was a member of Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church. He
proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending much of
that time in Korea and Okinawa, Japan. He was also passionate about his
Masonic involvement, with over 50 years in the lodge. He served as
District Deputy Grand Master, past Master of Henderson Masonic Lodge #147,
chaplain of the lodge for forty years, and received the Pillars of Solomon
Award of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jessie
Redwine of Mountain Pine; son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Nancy
Redwine of Mountain Pine, as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of
friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 14,
2019, at Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Buddy Leamons, Bro. Joe
Thompson, and Bro. Jimmy Scott officiating.
Interment will follow in the Scott Cemetery, Mountain
Pine, with full military honors, under the direction of Davis-Smith
Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
